Flashback of February 2020 – Looking Back Into The Past!

Look back at some of the top stories from February 2020, and many may sound like the familiar stories that drive the present. Here are few major stories from February that you may hear more about.

1. Trump: Never been to the iconic mausoleum, but has heard it's ‘Incredible’.

Trump had told the reporters in Air Force One that he’s never been to the iconic mausoleum, but has heard it’s ‘Incredible’.

President Donald Trump once owned the former Trump Taj Mahal Casino in New Jersey and finally, on the 24th of February, 2020 he stepped in taking the mesmerizing view of the real Taj Mahal. He arrived for his maiden visit to Ahmedabad, India along with his wife Melania Trump, daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner.

As soon as he arrived, he was greeted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and received a warm colorful welcome with performers dressed up in feathered costumes and performing peacock dance.

2. The economy shudders as coronavirus threatens the whole world.

Almost two decades passed since a coronavirus named SARS emerged in China, killing hundreds of people and sparking panic through the global economy. The virus COVID-19 could be much more damaging. Later the SARS outbreak in 2003, the country has become a crucial part of the global industry with hundreds of millions of wealthy consumers. 

On account of over 2000 and more lives were killed by this contagious virus disrupting the supply chain and leading it to relocate companies. Factory shutdowns are decelerating the flow of products and parts from China, affecting companies around the world, including Apple and Nissan. The economic damage is growing in the world as the coronavirus new confirmed case counts increase.

3. Iran’s Deputy Health Minister tests positive for coronavirus.

Amid the outbreak in the Islamic republic, Iran’s deputy health minister was confirmed positive for the coronavirus on Tuesday i.e. on 25-Feb-2020. Iraj Harirchi has quoted himself that, “I had a fever since Monday. Last night the test result has been positive and then I have been isolated”.

He has been affected by COVID-19, a day after he seemed symptomatic in a press conference and receiving treatment and waiting for the fever to drop. He also assured in a tweet stating that “With the help of the government and the pillars of the system along with the support of you, we will fight back the virus in the coming weeks”.

4. Satya Nadella’s, The CEO of Microsoft conversation with Mukesh Ambani, Asia’s Richest man, and Reliance Industries chairman.

Microsoft will form defining partnership with Reliance Industries as he shared the stage with its chairman Mukesh Ambani at an event in India’s financial capital which happened on Monday (24-Feb-2020).

Ambani said, “The future of gaming in India, as a ‘concept’ it is not very popular currently but will have widespread traction in the coming decades”.
India is among the largest game downloading markets among the emerging economies, where most of the smartphone users spend an average time of one hour in gaming content according to industry data. This, in turn, led to the creation of a large gaming eco-system with global gaming products that are being produced in India.

He also added, “India has all the components to grow and march forward. It is at the point of becoming a ‘Premier Digital Society’ and there is no doubt in India becoming the third-largest economy in the world.”

5. A masked world: Coronavirus shoot up in South Korea

South Korea raised its coronavirus alert to the ‘highest level’ as several confirmed cases rising. President Moon Jae-in said that ‘the next few days would be crucial in the battle to contain the outbreak’. While on the other side, Italy and Iran have announced steps to try to contain worrying outbreaks of the virus. 

An entry ban has raised to contain the coronavirus outbreak. Iraq’s health ministry has reportedly extended for travelers who coming directly or indirectly from China, Iran, Thailand, South Korea, Japan, Italy and Singapore.

6. Italy cancelled Venice Carnival due to coronavirus

In Italy, strict isolation constraints are in force in two northern hotspot regions nearby Milan and Venice on account of the COVID-19 (previously known as ‘2019 novel coronavirus’). 

About 50000 people were not allowed to leave or enter several towns in Veneto and Lombardy without special permission. Businesses and schools have suspended activities and sports events including the top-flight football matches. Amid the growing restrictions in Italy, authorities stepped up measures to ban public gatherings. 

Also, the Venice famed carnival event has been canceled due to the deaths and number of confirmed cases of coronavirus.
