This arrival is to destroy the crops which leads the country to a difficult stage posing a major threat to food supplies. The locusts took over control during this early stage due to the climate changes similar to the threat that happened in East Africa, said the scientists.
After East Africa got slammed by the swarms of Locusts, it traveled to Asia flying in from Iran, Pakistan, and India, covering the major cultivation states in western and central India. Now the locusts plague the major different parts of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra, and Delhi in northern India destroying thousands of hectares of cropland worse than the epidemic chanced during 1993.

The scientists said, it is not a new problem and had been facing it already. But this time, the Locusts attack is worse in 28 years. Also, this time it’s not the usual Locusts and they are different. The attack is by the young ones which can fly at a faster speed to a longer distance than the adults.
According to the state agricultural department, the swarm covers an area of at least 10-km long and 2-km wide at a time and continues to spread. Thereby, every single day if they cover almost 150 km, they can eat the food consumed by a great number of 35,000 people.
#LocustAttack on India - A #locust only weighs 2g — a small swarm can contain 40 million #locusts. Such a swarm would consume as much food in 1 day as 35000 people. And locusts can travel large distances in a short period of time, nearly 100 miles per day. https://t.co/0mXliyLZ5I

Government taking efforts to destroy the deadly locust attack and moved to use advanced sprays, drones, and planes to stop acres of crops from being destroyed almost before the monsoon in India.Â
Steps up the deadly locusts control measures in 21 districts in Rajasthan, 18 districts in Madhya Pradesh, 1 district in Punjab, and 2 districts in Gujarat to control the spread of swarms of locust as of now, said the government.
Well, while we have learned to live with corona as advised, we also start living with swarms of locusts. Day by day we are facing with unusual climatic conditions and cyclones, also let’s face these deadly threats like locusts invading into our residents.
