The world reeling through many problems, gone through the tough and unexpected days of the month. When related to the coronavirus, a statement says that the worse is yet to come. The way things are going – The bad, the worse, and the worst. but as we stand together, the hope is holding hands and will bounce back to its normal life.
Here are a few flashbacks of June 2020, and many may sound like the familiar stories.
Covid-19 hits 1 crore-mark of confirmed cases worldwide.
According to John Hopkins University, the Covid-19 which emerged from China last year, now hits a surpassed record of more than 10 million confirmed cases and 500,000 confirmed deaths have been registered all over the world until the end of June 2020.
The virus is still circulating widely and half the world’s cases have been covered in Europe and the US, but it’s rising rapidly in the Americas. The virus is causing an unexpected spread in South Asia and Africa, where it’s expected to rebound to its normal state at the end of July. Also, it’s been said the global pandemic may go worse than now.
This outbreak is still spreading in many parts of the world, with an ever striking record of one million new corona cases in the last six days.
The “The Ring of Fire” - Solar eclipse 2020.
A rare celestial event, the annual solar eclipse which is popularly known as the “Ring of Fire” eclipse occurred on June 21, 2020. India witnessed this solar eclipse and it was annular in some parts of the country. The day marked as the longest day of the year and the sky gazers around the world had a chance to witness this annular eclipse. The alignment of the Moon came in the same plane and covered the central part of the Sun from the Earth’s view, left behind the outer rim, and formed the Ring of Fire.
That was the first solar eclipse of the year. It is also said that the second and the last solar eclipse will take place on December 14, which will be a total solar eclipse.
In India, only the states like Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand witnessed this solar eclipse. Amid the coronavirus pandemic, large gatherings were banned and hence the special events organized at the planetariums and observatories were also canceled across the country.

Queen Elizabeth misses Royal Ascot for the first time in reign.
The festival of horse racing, the Royal Ascot is one of the highlight in Britain’s calendar and a permanent fixture in the monarch’s calendar.
In the longest in British history, nothing has kept Queen Elizabeth II away from watching the Royal Ascot – not pregnancy or even a speech to Parliament. This was the first time she missed the Ascot in her 68-year reign as UK monarch because of the coronavirus pandemic.
This iconic horse racing festival took place inside closed doors without the usual crowds, no trophy presentations and royal carriage procession, led by the queen. But the 98-year old queen watched it on TV from Windsor Castle, where she has been isolating with her husband Prince Philip, who recently turned 99, this year March.
Eiffel tower reopens after 3 months of closure since World War II.
After the longest closure of the Parisian landmark Eiffel Tower ever since World War II, people bounced back to the exciting stage of the grand reopening of the blissful tourist spot in Paris. On June 25th, 2020, the Eiffel tower was reopened for the visitors setting up new safety and hygiene measures for the wellness of the locals and the tourists. And for now, the tower’s highest point is not open and visitors need to take the 674-steps staircase to climb up the tower as the elevators will be off-limits to all the visitors.
This marks a major step in the recovery of France, and people had their hopes of survival from the coronavirus pandemic.
A great white shark killed a surfer in the famous Salt beach, Australia.
A 10-feet long white shark attacked a 60-year-old surfer from the water off Salt Beach, New South Wales, Australia. While surfing near Kingscliff, the man received a bite to the back of his thigh and was brought to the shore by other surf rescue groups who had fought off the shark, said in a statement. He received first aid on the shore but died on the beach.
Do you know? Shark attacks are rare and the deaths are even more. Around the world, only two people died in 2019.
India – China’s deadliest border clash since 1975.
India and China, the two nuclear-armed Asian neighboring countries are in a military standoff tense following their first deadly border clash ever from 1975, in more than 40 years.
Almost 20 Indian troops died during the clash in Ladakh, in the disputed Kashmir region. The Indian Army initially said three of its soldiers were killed, adding the sufferings were on both sides. But later on, the officials said some injured soldiers died out of their wounds.
China yet to confirm the casualties but also accused India of crossing the border onto the Chinese side.
Tik Tok and 58 Chinese apps have been banned by India.
India’s government banned 59 Chinese apps including the highly popular and worldwide used Tik Tok due to concerns over data security and privacy, followed by the deadly clash between their militaries last month rising tensions between the two countries.
A statement said, “Tiktok continues to comply with all data privacy and security requirements under India law and has not shared any information of users under India law with any foreign government, including Chinese government.”
Tik Tok has stopped working for users who already had the app installed in devices before the government’s ban. It has been removed from Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store but was still working for old users. Now the app reads a message “We’re in the process of complying with Government of India’s directive to block 59 apps.”
